Responsibilities

Project management and delivery:

  • Primary focus on client account management and delivery of M&A and Due Diligence services to clients in the Financial and Private Equity sectors. Fill a key role in growing the Anthesis Transaction + Corporate Services practice in North America with a focus on the following services and solutions:
    • ESG strategy, program design and development;
    • EHS/ESG due diligence for M&A;
    • Value-creation programs with portfolio companies; and
    • Due diligence support for divestments and exits.
  • Manage and deepen relationships with existing Anthesis client accounts and take on new accounts as they begin to use the Anthesis platform:
    • Proactive outreach and sharing of Anthesis thought leadership content;
    • Understand current and future business needs to position and cross-sell Anthesis offerings and gather requirements for new or enhanced Anthesis solutions; and
    • Help grow client accounts and further establish the Anthesis brand in North America.
  • Work in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment to build Anthesis’ global business. Leverage M&A project opportunities to provide follow-on services related to supply chain, EHS compliance, management systems, IT solutions and analytics, outsourcing, among others.
  • Lead complex due diligence consulting engagements involving multi-site portfolios and multi-person project teams locally, nationally, and globally. Work with clients to find solutions to transaction-driven environmental issues, including EHS compliance, remediation, portfolio issues, and liability cost estimating.
  • Meet business financial targets, overall project budget and schedule, client satisfaction/expectations, and internal and contract requirements.

Product and service development:

  • Help Anthesis evolve its current ESG positioning within the Financial Services and Private Equity sectors by being active in the market, listening to clients, developing new service offerings and delivering high quality and impactful solutions to our clients.
  • Support the growth and development of the Anthesis Transaction + Corporate Services practice and actively collaborate with colleagues across the globe. Drive innovation within the practice to stay ahead of client needs and to differentiate Anthesis in the market.

Requirements

The ideal applicant must be able to demonstrate excellent technical skills, an entrepreneurial attitude and be highly motivated.

Minimum qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree in mathematics, engineering, science, economics or related field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 to 10 years of project management experience in a consulting environment, working at a high-level with corporate, financial, and legal clients delivering investment Due Diligence services.
  • In-depth understanding of the Private Equity sector, preferably with existing relationships with deal teams, internal ESG leads, attorneys, and/or investment bankers that can be leveraged into new relationships, positioning and growth.
  • Business acumen to understand business risk and challenges, and recognize key market opportunities.
  • Well-versed in environmental risk, environmental compliance, health & safety compliance, and remediation liabilities as they relate to transaction agreements.

Responsibilities include:

The Role 

Working on projects from inception to completion. The role requires the person to take ownership and responsibility for the projects and the teams working on them. Building and managing relationships is key.

  • Oversee ad carry out all surveying activity in relation to M&E packages including;
  • Produce and provide accurate forecasts of project cost to completion and final value
  • Preparing tender packages for M&E subcontract works
  • Continually monitor projected costs to completion in line with budget
  • Ensure contract variations are identified, valued and turned into agreed variation orders with the customer in a timely manner
  • Manage the subcontract tender process, including the selection of sub-contractors and provision of all relevant contract and schedule documentation
  • Ensure that each sub-contractors account is managed strictly in accordance with their terms and conditions
  • Vetting tenders and placing sub contract orders for various M&E packages
  • Variations and claims – facilitate the resolution of disputes relating to outstanding payments to subcontractors and creditors
  • Producing monthly contract reports detailing current status of the M&E contracts, including cashflow forecasts and liabilities
  • Provide input in construction project commercial/legal/strategic meetings

Ideally you will have experience and knowledge in the following areas 

  • Background in Construction or Building & ability to read drawings / plans
  • Experience of M&E Quantity Surveying and financial knowledge of construction costs.
  • An understanding of contracts and the tender process as well as being able to read drawings and understand contracts and legal issues.
  • Experience in procurement, commercial governance, risk & opportunity management, and cost forecasting & reporting.
  • Understanding of contracts & of legal issues pertaining to contracts
  • Knowledge of tender process
  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying.
  • Extensive experience in the Quantity Surveying of MEP services
  • Exposure to lift installations and ancillary service packages associated with high value projects ranging across multiple sectors would be advantageous
  • Experience in administering M&E sub-contract accounts to final agreement, with a successful run of closures of these accounts with the client
  • Knowledge of the M&E market including costs of labour & resources and the M&E product market

 Summary of role:This is a Principal role within the Energy Engineering team, which will be key in shaping the future development and growth of the consultancy service area. An essential requirement will be to contribute to the delivery of projects and provide technical oversight and quality assurance of deliverables.

As a Principal Engineer you will lead on various design stages of energy generation and efficiency projects, including feasibility, preliminary and detailed design and construction support.

Key areas of the role will also include developing new propositions and providing strategic input into the growth of our team, supporting the development of systems and Intellectual Property and working across the team to support knowledge transfer and education.

Key Accountabilities:

Project delivery:

  • Undertake site electrical infrastructure surveys, tests, reports on existing Electrical systems performance and services installations.
  • Electrical design, with particular focus on energy efficiency and electrical generation and storage.
  • Take responsibility for the technical delivery of outline and detailed electrical (and ICA) design, preparing schedules, drawings and specifications and assisting with project delivery including support for the full project lifecycle, working closely with the projects and contracts team to provide installation and commissioning support
  • Production of electrical schematics, preparation of construction drawings, LV/HV distribution system design and Instrumentation and equipment specification, switchgear sizing
  • Be responsible for achieving appropriate quality standards including technical checking of work
  • Acting as Client’s Engineer or Client’s Project Manager to ensure best value is obtained from contractors. Advising clients on options, risks and mitigation. Operating embedded within the client’s office where required.
  • Liaison with electrical supply authorities
  • Peer review and authorisation of colleagues’ work.
  • Project management including the co-ordination of technical, commercial and procurement advice from internal and external associates. Delivering projects on time and on budget to high customer satisfaction

Relationship Management:

  • Manage multiple client relationships, liaise with clients to determine their requirements, assist clients with on-going enquires.
  • Manage relationships into key industry bodies such as CIBSE, ADE, BEIS, GLA and the REA
  • Develop strategic partnerships with other companies and institutions that enhance the effectiveness of the work we deliver

Commercials:

  • Achieving project profitability. Tracking costs, managing and forecasting spend, ensuring that work is kept to budget. Manage resources. Manage invoicing.
  • Providing technical sales support to Sales colleagues ensuring proposals are correctly scoped and priced.

Strategic

  • Support the development of new propositions, identifying market needs and subsequent opportunities. Spotting innovations and making the business case for pursuing them.
  • Supporting the development of IP and systems that enhance the quality and efficiency of our client work
  • With anticipated growth, the role has the potential to develop to leading a team of electrical engineers with line manager responsibilities and responsibility in mentoring less experienced staff.

Relevant experience required:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar client-facing role in the energy and wider building services/energy efficiency industry.
  • Experience of working in decentralised energy/district heating.
  • Have experience of delivering H&S by design, compliance to CDM regulations, Ex standard, ATEX compliance

Knowledge/expertise required:

  • Expertise in generation technologies and renewable or low carbon heat/power sources including PV, batteries, CHP, BMS and controls.
  • Able to design the range of building electrical services, particularly power distribution (including cable sizing and protection studies) and lighting systems.
  • Knowledge of building services within commercial and public sector operations
  • Knowledge of current Building Regulations and understanding the UK IET regulations (BS7671)
  • Monitoring of installation works on site, particularly meeting technical compliance and Site H&S matters including CDM2015.

  • Strong technical skills including applying engineering first principles.
