September 2021 – Anthesis, the Sustainability Activator, and the largest dedicated team of sustainability professionals globally, announced the appointment of Drummond Lawson to the role of Strategy Director within its Activator Strategy Team. Based in North America, Drummond will work with clients to activate their sustainability strategies, supporting them to develop and deliver value-creating sustainability platforms that link science-based environmental initiatives to organizational culture, innovation processes, and strategy functions, and to encourage adoption and pursuit of ambitious targets for climate and biodiversity. This approach is unique to Anthesis and underpins the company’s focus on the delivery of high impact sustainable performance engagements. In this role, Drummond will operate globally but with a particular focus on the North America marketplace.
Drummond has over 15 years’ experience driving impact at the core of high growth businesses through environmental and social programs. He joins Anthesis from Arc’teryx Equipment in Vancouver BC, where he served as the Sustainability Director and later the Chief of Staff responsible for sustainability strategy implementation and business transformation. While at Arc’teryx, Drummond introduced science-based climate targets helping the organization to commit to 65% reductions in scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions by 2030. In addition, he initiated a used product circular business model, driving new revenue and reducing emissions. Prior to Arc’teryx, Drummond served as the Sustainability Director at Method Products in San Francisco where he was responsible for green product innovation, transparent brand communications, and the B-Corp certification process. Drummond co-founded the Catalyst Business Alliance for climate leadership, alongside the Pembina Institute and was a fellow of the Aspen Institute’s First Mover’s social intrapreneur fellowship. He is a current Clean50 honoree and a past winner of Sustainable Design Award from IDSA.
“Drummond’s results-oriented sustainability leadership at top organizations will translate to valuable guidance for our clients in their journeys toward activating sustainability. This is an exciting addition to our team, and one that strengthens and expands the reach of our strategic Activator Strategy service area in North America, a differentiator for Anthesis that enhances our ability to advance meaningful sustainability outcomes for our clients in the Decisive Decade.”

Drummond’s addition to the North America team comes at a time when Anthesis is accelerating its attraction of top talent to meet surging market demand in the region. From supporting Target Corporation with its Scope 3 Science Based Target, to supporting Equinix in becoming the first in the data center industry to commit to being climate-neutral by 2030, Anthesis is driving progress in North America by helping businesses activate their sustainability ambitions. As further evidence of momentum in the North America team, Anthesis US is proud to have earned the Great Place to Work® certification, with 100% of employees surveyed reporting that they are proud to say they work for Anthesis.
On his appointment, Drummond says: “We have entered a pivotal time where bold action is required to address climate change, biodiversity loss, and inequality. An effective response will require the capabilities and leadership of companies around the world. I’m excited to join Anthesis to be part of a team with a clear mission: to enable companies to drive performance by taking this kind of bold action.”
