Anthesis has expanded its sustainability consultancy expertise in mainland Europe with the appointment of a new Associate Director, Philipp Rosenthal.
Based in Germany, Philipp will work alongside the established team of eight experts in Frankfurt, reporting into managing director of Anthesis’ German operations, Frank Schmidt. Philipp’s appointment adds new capabilities to the German team, which leads on environmental due diligence and transaction projects for clients in industries such as technology, automotive and communications.
Philipp will provide sustainability and circular economy consulting with particular emphasis on sustainability strategy and reporting, carbon emission mitigation, energy management and human rights consultancy. He will also be responsible for carrying out research, engaging with stakeholders and consulting businesses, government, international NGOs and institutions.
Previous to his role at Anthesis, Philipp worked for Ernst & Young, overseeing the operations of the Middle East and North Africa Climate Change and Sustainability Services team for more than three years. Through his leadership, they were recognised as the fastest growing team in the European, Middle East and African regions, delivering outstanding results for the market.

Philipp has a background in cleantech engineering, policy development and environmental economics.
In recognition of his work, he was awarded the Japanese Ritsumeikan Award Gold in 2013 for contributions to freedom, peace and humanity. As co-founder of Project 189, he was a finalist for the global Nelson Mandela Walk Together Prize. He is certified as an ISO 50001 lead auditor, SA8000 auditor LEGO Serious Play facilitator.
Philipp has consulted heads of state, ministries and utilities, as well as business leaders in a variety of sectors.
