Anthesis Group, the world’s largest group of dedicated sustainability professionals, has appointed former Managing Director of Netherlands Water Partnership, Bianca Nijhof, as Associate Director, Water and Biodiversity. This senior hire expands and complements the established expertise within Anthesis while addressing market demand internationally to identify and mitigate biodiversity and water impacts.
Based in the Netherlands, Bianca brings to Anthesis more than 20 years of sustainability expertise with a focus on water, natural capital, SDGs, and Environmental Social Governance (ESG). Bianca previously held the role of Managing Director at Netherlands Water Partnership, a network of around 180 internationally-oriented Dutch organisations working in the water sector. Prior to that, Bianca was a founding member of the sustainability team at global design and engineering consultancy, Arcadis.
“I am very proud to join Anthesis and to be part of their focus to deliver sustainable performance, and their commitment in putting people and our planet at the heart of all they do. I am excited to join a purpose-driven organisation that is shaping smart solutions that integrate economic performance and sustainability impact for its clients and society as the world transitions to Net Zero and Nature Positive.”

With an extensive international network across business, governmental organisations, and NGOs, Bianca is an active participant in several recognised associations and foundations, including a Member of the Advisory Panel of the Capitals Coalition, a Member of Strategic Council of the International Water Association, and the Co-Chair of Workplace Pride Foundation.
Bianca’s appointment builds upon Anthesis’ global ambition to support clients to sustainably eliminate 3Gt (gigatonnes) of CO2e – equivalent to more than half the United States’ annual emissions – by 2030. According to The Nature Conservancy nature-based solutions can provide up to 37% of the carbon emission reductions needed by 2030.
Brad Blundell, Managing Director of Anthesis for Europe, Middle East & Latin America, commented, “I am delighted to welcome Bianca to Anthesis at such a pivotal point in our journey. Her wealth of experience will be a valuable addition to Anthesis, particularly as global water demand is predicted to outstrip supply in the next few years and considering the role nature plays in climate change adaptation as well as mitigation Bianca’s blend of international and local market expertise supports the breadth and depth of Anthesis’ growth ambitions.”
Anthesis has recently been named Consultancy of the Year at Edie’s Sustainability Leaders Awards 2022, the world’s largest sustainable business awards scheme championing bold and brilliant climate leadership.
