The Climate Summit COP25 2019 takes place 02 – 13 December in Madrid, and Anthesis Lavola will be present with three different events. The company is fully committed to the resolutions and agreements that have been taken at the various summits, with the 2015 Paris Agreement being the most important in recent years.

The objective of COP25 is to increase action against climate change, that citizens perceive it, achieve greater ambition in national climate plans by 2020 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.

Climate Finance and the Blue Economy Against Climate Emergency

The first two events are related to climate finance, where Anthesis Lavola presents the results of the analysis of the Spanish financial market carried out with the tracker Finance-fit-for Paris (3fP-tracker). 3fP-tracker is a methodology that analyses the adequacy of a country’s financial regulations and policies to foster the transition to a low-carbon and sustainable market. With the result obtained from the analysis, we can see what policies are needed for the financial market to contribute to the objective of avoiding a rise in temperature above 2ºC.

The first results presentation ceremony will be held on 03 December at 2pm in the Sectoral Action and Innovation Forum, in the summit’s Green Zone, and is aimed at civil society. The second act takes place on 04 December at 10am in the Elcano Institute and is aimed at the professional sector.

The third event is entitled “Renforcer la résilience aux changements climatiques en associant l’économie bleue à la Gestion Intégrée des Zones Côtières (GIZC)” and is related to climate resilience and the blue economy and exposes the importance of sustainable use and conservation of aquatic resources while promoting economic growth in coastal areas. This event will take place on 6 December in the Pavilion of the Francophonie, in a parallel event within the summit promoted by the United Nations Development Programme.

This summit is the 25th held by the Conference of the Parties (COP), the supreme decision-making body of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. The objective of the COPs is to implement the agreements taken in the convention that establish specific obligations to combat climate change for all members that are a part of it. This edition is chaired by the Chilean Minister of the Environment, Carolina Schmidt.
