Developing a Plastics and Packaging Strategy for a Large Retailer

January 25, 2022 | Case Study,

Objectives

A large food retailer, operating in many countries around the world, set out targets and an ambitious plan to reduce the plastic used in its packaging. To achieve these targets, the client required support to kickstart its internal strategy.

Project

Anthesis worked with the client to establish a packaging baseline and plastic waste prevention strategy. This strategy set out to raise awareness of their targets internally and to implement category-by-category initiatives to deliver their roadmap for success.

To deliver this project, Anthesis seconded a director to work within the client’s Corporate Social Responsibility Team, directors of buying, and suppliers for 6 months.

Anthesis returned to work for the client a year later to evaluate progress against their baseline and to advise on necessary revisions to their approach to estimating packaging quantities.

Outputs

Anthesis aided the client to set a robust strategy and outlined how to implements this strategy and achieve their targets. This was an important piece of work the client is a leader in the packaging field and ambitious within their sustainability journey.
