Location: Remote - USA or Canada Based

Contract: Full-time

Remuneration Range: $120,000 - 145,000 (please note salary is paid in local currency USD/CAD)

Key Responsibilities:

  • As a senior subject matter expert, provide supervision, guidance, and leadership to clients as well as colleagues on leading practices, standards, and trends, incorporating this knowledge into consulting projects, proposals and the evolution of new products.
  • Develop proposals with client managers and generate your own leads with new and existing clients, actively contributing to the business development activities of the global business.
  • Supervise large, complex, and dynamic consulting projects throughout their entire project cycle: initiation, planning, design, execution, monitoring, quality assurance and closure.
  • Perform line management responsibilities for direct reports, including conducting performance reviews and goal setting, and providing mentorship and guidance on career path development.
  • Actively demonstrate thought leadership through, for example, authoring position papers, presenting on webinars, and participating in leading forums.
  • Actively contribute to the evolution of Anthesis’ SBT/Net-Zero Service via:
  • A thorough understanding of the Service’s existing resources, knowledge management systems and expert communities
  • Input on strategic direction for the business based on current and anticipated market demands
  • Development of tools and systems to support increased value to clients, improved quality of deliverables, team efficiencies and scaling of Service to achieve Anthesis’ commercial and corporate climate goals
  • Development of expertise in, and ownership of, specific technical or sectoral topic area and to support team’s capacity via training in partnership with Anthesis’ Learning & Development Managers and maintaining a robust knowledge management repository
  • Regular review and development of commercial guides, tools and documents; as well as marketing collateral to support business development active and regular collaboration with other Services within the Climate / Net-Zero Practice and other Practices across the business to provide cohesive, strategic and value-added guidance to clients.

Summary of Role:

We are a leading and innovative provider of decarbonization services, helping a broad spectrum of businesses to navigate and communicate their transition to a net-zero future. With over 150 practitioners globally, we have a track record in successfully addressing cutting-edge issues related to Science Based Targets (SBTs) and Net-Zero targets. We have deep connections and partnerships with NGOs and other standard-setting organizations that help shape the target-setting landscape. And we offer complementary advisory services that support our clients throughout their net-zero journey, in such areas as carbon footprinting, carbon markets, renewable energy, climate risk and ESG strategy.

We are looking for a highly motivated Associate Director to support our growing SBT and Net-Zero service in North America. Your role will be client-facing and you will help lead business development efforts and consulting mandates to develop SBT and Net-Zero strategies. Your projects and clients may span a diverse set of industries, ranging from Fortune 500 companies to boutique brands and start-ups.

You will leverage our service teams and subject matter experts to ensure clients receive our best solutions and technical advice. You will be joining an engaged, collaborative community that approaches its work with energy and optimism.

Key Requirements:

  • 10+ years’ experience in corporate carbon management across multiple sectors, acquired either in-house or in a consultancy environment
  • Demonstrated experience in developing corporate GHG emission inventories and reduction targets
  • Demonstrated experience in developing operational and full value chain GHG emissions reduction roadmaps and strategies that address cost, timeframe, governance and other strategic business considerations
  • Experience in implementing programs and initiatives to realize GHG emissions reduction goals, especially internal education, governance and change management initiatives and/or the engagement of customers and suppliers
  • Knowledgeable about a broad range of GHG emissions reduction levers, both nature-based (e.g., forestry, marine, coastal) and technological (e.g., renewable energy, alternative fuel vehicles)
  • Familiarity with external programs, guidance, criteria and tools for setting near-term / long-term SBTs and Net-Zero Targets, especially the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)
  • Knowledge of adjacent climate issues, including Task-Force and Climate-related Disclosures (TCFD), risks and opportunities, climate scenario analysis, and carbon markets and offsetting mechanisms

  • Professional presence with the ability to quickly establish personal credibility and demonstrate technical expertise as well as solid understanding of the client’s business and needs
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication and consulting skills
  • Effective time management and organizational skills. Ability to respond positively to pressure and take a flexible approach to a dynamic, fast moving and changing work environment.
  • Able to work on virtual teams across different time zones
