Summary of Role

Anthesis is seeking to grow its apparel and textile industry support in the Asia region, and is seeking a Consultant to join the team in Manila to enhance efforts to scale sustainability assessment and performance improvement initiatives in the sector. Ideally the candidate is someone who is familiar with the Apparel and/or Textiles supply chain and is passionate about directly supporting efforts to improve environmental performance in this sector.

As a part of the Apparel sector Advisory & Communications team, this role will work with clients to deploy environmental assessments and tools to their supply chain partners such as the Higg Index and ZDHC chemicals gateway, help track and support suppliers through the process, provide helpful training and guidance to suppliers, and analyze and validate the data collected. This will require familiarity with typical environmental datasets such as greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs), energy, water, waste, wastewater, and chemicals. This role has the opportunity to engage hundreds, if not thousands of global apparel suppliers to support them in their sustainability journeys.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Supporting Anthesis Apparel team on various project tasks related to supplier engagement, tracking, and communications
  • Sending out regular communications to guide suppliers through assessment or tool adoption steps;
  • Developing and managing processes to track supplier progress and performance; this may require the management of multiple large datasets
  • Providing email or phone support to suppliers to guide them through the assessment/tool process and answer questions on the requirements
  • Developing useful training and guidance materials to support global suppliers
  • Analyzing supplier assessment data to identify problematic data (missing or outlier data), typically relating to greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs), energy, water, and waste.
  • Following up with identified suppliers to guide them through improving the quality of the data they are reporting (i.e. how to better track and report energy data)


  • BA/BS degree in environmental sciences/engineering, manufacturing, or business/economics or related field or equivalent practical experience
  • This role will require strong proficiency with both spoken and written English
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant professional experience
  • Proven experience and understanding of the apparel/textiles sector and supply chain
  • Proven experience and understanding of key environmental topics including GHGs, energy, water, waste, wastewater and/or chemicals
  • Proficiency and demonstrated experience in working with and conducting analysis of environmental data sets
  • Strong project management skills and ability to effectively manage multiple processes or projects

Preferred Skills:

  • Proficiency in Chinese (and writing in Mandarin)
  • Previous experience working with apparel/textile manufacturers and/or environmental management in the supply chain
  • Experience or knowledge of the Higg Index and/or ZDHC gateway
  • Experience in delivering sustainability training, guidance, and support
