Role: Engineer – Energy

Location: Flexibly remote from one of our UK hubs (Bristol, Edinburgh, Harrogate, London, Manchester or Oxford)

Contract: Full-time

Remuneration Range: Competitive

Key responsibilities:

Client Development:

  • Identifies new or follow-on opportunities from existing projects
  • Support client manager with proposal writing.
  • Contributes to/participates in client reviews/meetings/discussions

Business/Project Management:

  • Profitably manages small projects or project subtasks on time and to budget, to client or Project Manager satisfaction with limited oversight.
  • Spends majority of time on project work.
  • Manages own time to deliver agreed tasks / outcomes to project managers within the agreed time and budget, and to a high quality.

Technical :

  • Able to efficiently analyse datasets to support understanding of energy system performance
  • Able to interpret and produce technical drawings and outline specifications with little oversight
  • Understanding of energy use within built environment and/or industry
  • Understanding of key commercial technologies and interventions needed to meet future carbon budgets
  • Demonstrates technical proficiency in one or more specialty areas and ability to learn to contribute effectively to projects.
  • Performs independent research with limited direction.
  • Assists in production of reports and presentations.

Summary of role:

The role primarily will have an engineering focus and requires an individual with an understanding of energy systems within the built environment and/or industry. You will be expected to support our clients covering sectors ranging from industry to built environment. Project delivery will be the primary focus of the role and will be mainly within the Energy Practice, but also potentially contributing to projects outside the community as needed.

You will support the delivery of a wide range of energy-related projects within a multidisciplinary design team for several key clients covering a range of activities from project feasibility to detailed design and construction support.

Our projects have a consistent theme in striving for sustainable outcomes and therefore an interest and understanding of technology interventions that can drive the transition to a low carbon economy is essential.

 

Key requirements:

  • 2-5 years’ experience in a relevant position
  • Degree in Engineering subject or equivalent.
  • As the role includes travel, visiting clients across the UK and on occasions overseas, and keeping in contact with internationally based clients there is a requirement to be flexible around hours of working.

  • Work well with a wide range of people on a global basis;
  • Proactive with the ability and confidence to use initiative;
  • Well presented with a professional manner to act as a brand ambassador which flexes and is appropriate for the specific client environment and circumstances.
