Group Financial Controller

Role: Group Financial Controller

Location: Based in UK with combination of remote / home working. Offices in UK hubs London, Bristol, Manchester, and Oxford.

Contract: Permanent

Remuneration Range: Competitive (perks include 1 paid day for your birthday, 2 paid volunteering days, flextime options)

Key Requirements:

  • Experience working in the professional services sector.
  • Qualified Accountant (ACA) with at least 8 years’ post qualified experience.
  • Commercially focused to support the CFO/Board in the Group’s growth aspirations.
  • Good IFRS knowledge with strong technical accounting skills, particularly in the context of project accounting/revenue recognition with a good working knowledge of IFRS15 requirements.
  • Experience of international businesses in a multi-currency environment and associated accounting of foreign currencies according to IFRS reporting requirements.
  • Strong background in statutory accounts preparation and audit management.
  • Ability to prepare and present management accounts and annual budgets, to global leadership and the Group Board.
  • Strong financial and accounting leadership skills to communicate with subsidiary operations.
  • Proactive self-starter with the ability to get stuck into the detail, roll up your sleeves and manage multiple priorities.

Summary of the Role

We are looking for a dynamic, motivated and entrepreneurial Financial Controller to join our team.  In this role, you’ll be the right-hand person to the Group CFO and will be a key member of the Global Finance Team.

Our business is growing rapidly and in this exciting opportunity you will be accountable for a wide variety of diverse and complex finance & accounting operations, across multiple geographies, including:  integration of acquisitions; input into the design and building of processes, systems and KPIs to expertly analyze and manage the business for sustainable growth, global treasury and cash management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage, coordinate and produce monthly consolidated management accounts and KPI reports from global businesses located in over 12 countries for the Group Board and reporting information to the lead private equity investor (“PE Investor”).
  • Review results to provide insight into business performance via analytical review and variance analysis.
  • Support and optimize the recent implementation of Anthesis’s global ERP, Oracle NetSuite.
  • Ensure adequate and robust financial controls are in place throughout the global organisation, implementing improvements where necessary.
  • Develop strong relationships with the global finance team and support them in maintaining strong controls, accurate reporting and commercial finance/working capital management.
  • Prepare Group forecasts of income statements, balance sheets and cash flows for internal use, submission to the PE Investor and banks, including the impact of acquisitions, as appropriate.
  • Treasury management and reporting of covenant compliance.
  • Full annual consolidation and preparation of IFRS Group Financial Statements, managing the annual audit and liaison with tax advisors on reporting and compliance.
  • Ensure timely implementation of and compliance with new International Financial Reporting Standards.
  • Preparation of the consolidated annual budget, working with regional businesses and attending regional review meetings.
  • M&A due diligence support, including reviewing and advising on acquisition/fair value accounting.
  • Accounting for Group Holding companies.

Desirable but not essential:

  • Experience of working in a rapidly growing company.
  • Oracle Netsuite experience.
  • Accounting system, process design and implementation experience.
  • M&A experience and integration of acquisitions into businesses.
  • Change management experience.
