Role: Principal/Associate Mechanical Engineer

Location: Flexibly remote from one of our UK hubs (Bristol, Edinburgh, Harrogate, London, Manchester or Oxford)

Contract: Full-time

Remuneration Range: Competitive

Key responsibilities:

  • Delivering business value to our clients and effectively communicating key sustainability messages
  • Act as a role model within the team, constantly striving for technical excellence and ongoing betterment
  • Lead our projects, including the leadership of project teams where appropriate
  • Leading the development of outline and detailed mechanical designs for clients
  • Understanding electrical design principles and integrate approaches with our Electrical Engineers to optimise decarbonisation opportunities
  • Perform site visits across a broad client base to understand opportunities for integration of low carbon generation and/or energy efficiency interventions
  • Identify new opportunities for sustainable performance and advance engineering proposals in these areas,
  • Performing energy, carbon and financial analysis for wide-ranging projects
  • Presenting results in visually attractive formats and outputs
  • Supervising, working and networking with other engineers, consultants and analysts within Anthesis across the globe
  • Undertaking technical research and results dissemination
  • Undertake responsibility for best practice quality assurance
  • Develop your client relationships to enable new business. Prepare written proposals, in collaboration with the existing team
  • Attend client meetings, where necessary, for development of opportunities and project delivery.
  • Manage multiple projects with minimal supervision to meet tight deadlines.
  • Provide technical mentoring and line-management to more junior engineers
  • Learn and develop your technical expertise, supported by our technical directors

Summary of role:

Anthesis offers a wide range of strategic technical analytics services across the UK and internationally, focusing on innovation and delivery of real business value.  We are seeking a Principal/Associate Mechanical Engineer to join our Built Environment team.

This is a delivery and project management role engaging directly with the market to support major sustainability projects to our clients. It will involve collaborating with global Anthesis sustainability experts and with other Engineers not only to deliver great projects but also to support in developing new innovative ways of supporting our clients’ sustainability journey.

Anthesis focuses on driving maximum sustainable impact by our clients, many of which are major blue-chip companies such as Reckitt Benckiser, LEGO, PepsiCo, Nestle and Salesforce. You will be leading projects that identify and design the sustainable energy systems of the future, with a focus on decarbonising our client’s buildings. You will be working with novel forms of heat production such as heat pumps, hydrogen and district heating, as well as energy vector transformations, for example electrification of catering and transportation loads.  You will be supported by a large team of experts both in the UK and across our broader EMELA Energy Practice

Key areas of the role will also include developing new propositions and supporting the development of systems and Intellectual Property and working across the team to support knowledge transfer and education.

 

Key requirements:

  • Excellent analytical skills and a sound understanding of mechanical and engineering principles.
  • > 8-years’ experience in delivering building services design projects, project management and associated consultancy services
  • Demonstrable client management and business development skills
  • Strong communication and consulting skills; particularly an understanding of the sustainability problems that organisations face in today’s climate.
  • Excellent project management skills: ensuring projects are delivered on time, to budget and to client expectations
