Contract: Full-time

Remuneration Range: $100,000 – 120,000 USD / $102,500 – 120,000 CAD

Key Responsibilities:
  • As a subject matter expert, you will provide supervision, guidance and leadership to clients as well as colleagues on leading practices, standards, and trends, incorporating this knowledge into consulting projects, proposals and the evolution of new products.
  • Develop and deliver proposals with client managers, which demonstrate an understanding of the client’s business and creative scopes of work to achieve their goals. You will also generate your own leads with new and existing clients, actively contributing to Anthesis’ business development activities.
  • Concurrently manage several projects across their lifecycle and be responsible for these projects providing high value to our client while being on time, budget. You will be 
  • Perform line management responsibilities for direct reports, including conducting performance reviews and goal-setting, and providing mentorship and guidance on career path development.
  • Actively demonstrate thought leadership through, for example, co-authoring position papers, presenting on webinars and participating in leading forums.
  • Engage with the global expert community across Anthesis to create new service product offerings related to corporate decarbonization.
  • Lead and grow client relationships acting as the primary point of contact and developing a trusted advisor relationship with a relentless focus on helping them be successful in defining and achieving their sustainability goals.   
  • Provide technical direction to client delivery teams and develop detailed recommendation reports and other deliverables that help support and inspire clients to take bold action on their pathway to Net-Zero
  • Actively contribute to the evolution of Anthesis’ SBT/Net-Zero Service via: 
    • a thorough understanding of, and contribution to, the Service’s existing resources, knowledge management systems and expert communities
    • development or improvement of tools and systems to support increased value to clients, improved quality of deliverables, team efficiencies and scaling of Service to achieve Anthesis’ commercial and corporate climate goals
    • contribute expertise in specific technical or sectoral topic area and to support team’s capacity  
    • support regular collaboration with other Services within the Climate / Net-Zero Practice and other Practices across the business to provide cohesive, strategic and value-added guidance to clients.

Summary of Role:

We are a leading and innovative provider of decarbonization services, helping a broad spectrum of businesses to navigate and communicate their transition to a net-zero future. With over 150 practitioners globally, we have a track record in successfully addressing cutting-edge issues related to Science Based Targets (SBTs) and Net-Zero targets, and have deep connections and partnerships with NGOs and other standard-setting organizations that help shape the target-setting landscape. And we offer complementary advisory services that support our clients throughout their net zero journey, in such areas as carbon footprinting, carbon markets, renewable energy, climate risk and ESG strategy.

We are looking for a highly motivated Principal Consultant to support our growing SBT and Net-Zero service in North America. Your role will be client-facing and you will help clients develop SBTs and Net-Zero strategies. Your projects and clients may span a diverse set of industries, ranging from Fortune 500 companies to boutique brands and start-ups.

Key Requirements:

  • 6+ years’ experience in corporate carbon management across multiple sectors, acquired either in-house or in a consultancy environment
  • Experienced in client engagement with an ability to establish strong client relationships
  • Proven experience in all aspects of project management
  • Experience planning, organizing, and controlling resources/processes to achieve project/program objectives within scope, time, quality, and budget constraints
  • Strong meeting management/facilitation skills
  • Demonstrated experience in developing corporate GHG emission inventories, quantitative modelling of reduction targets and initiatives to achieve targets
  • Demonstrated experience in developing operational and value chain GHG emissions reduction roadmaps and strategies that address cost, timeframe, governance and other strategic business considerations.
  • Familiarity in implementing programs and initiatives to realize GHG emissions reduction goals, especially internal education, governance and change management initiatives and/or the engagement of customers and suppliers.
  • Familiarity with external programs, guidance, criteria and tools for setting near-term / long-term SBTs and Net-Zero Targets, especially the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
  • Knowledgeable about a broad range of emissions reduction levers, both nature-based (e.g., forestry, coastal, marine) and technological (e.g., renewable energy, alternative fuel vehicles)
  • Minimum intermediate abilities with MS Excel

  • Professional presence with the ability to quickly establish personal credibility and demonstrate technical expertise as well as solid understanding of the client’s business and needs
  • Strong written and verbal communication, and consulting skills
  • Effective time management and organizational skills. Ability to respond positively to pressure and take a flexible approach to a dynamic, fast moving and changing work environment.
  • Able to work on virtual teams across different time zones
