Contract: Full-time

Key responsibilities:

Project Planning:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define project objectives, scope, deliverables, and success criteria.
  • Develop detailed project plans, including schedules, resource allocation, and budget estimates.
  • Identify project dependencies, risks, and mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure project plans align with organizational goals and strategic objectives.

Project Execution and Monitoring:

  • Lead project teams, assigning tasks, and monitoring progress to achieve project milestones.
  • Manage project scope, budget, and timeline, ensuring adherence to project constraints.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective collaboration and resource allocation.
  • Conduct regular project status meetings, providing updates to stakeholders and addressing any issues or concerns.
  • Implement project management best practices and methodologies to optimize project execution.

Risk Management:

  • Identify project risks and develop risk mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor and assess potential risks throughout the project lifecycle, implementing contingency plans as needed.
  • Proactively identify and address project issues, facilitating resolution and minimizing impact on project deliverables.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, standards, and quality requirements.

Quality Assurance:

  • Develop and implement quality control processes to ensure project deliverables meet defined standards.
  • Conduct regular quality assessments, verifying project outputs for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define and measure project success criteria.
  • Seek continuous improvement opportunities and implement lessons learned for future projects.

Team Leadership & Development:

  • Provide clear direction, guidance, and support to project team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
  • Facilitate effective communication, collaboration, and knowledge sharing among project team members.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, identify training needs, and provide coaching and mentorship to enhance team members’ skills and capabilities.
  • Encourage innovation and creativity within the project team, promoting a culture of continuous improvement.

Our Carbon Project Development team is at the forefront of developing and managing carbon offset projects in renewable energy, waste management, agriculture, forestry and Nature-Based Solutions. We guide project owners and developers all the way from project inception to the issuing of carbon credits in line with official carbon standards.

 

Summary of role:

As the Project Manager, you will be responsible for planning, executing, and delivering our South African and African carbon offset projects within scope, timeline, and budget. You will serve as the central point of contact for all project-related activities, coordinating with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and external partners. Your strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills will be critical in ensuring successful project outcomes and driving continuous improvement in project management practices.

The position requires someone with extensive experience in project management heading up a sales / business development department, ideally with exposure to the commercial agriculture space. Excellent in-person and remote communication skills are crucial, as are good business management skills and commercial flair.  The successful candidate will be highly skilled and confident in establishing partnerships, with a proven ability to close, as well as demonstrating cross-functional leadership to drive growth across a range of industry partners.

 

Key requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in project management, business administration, or a related field. PMP certification is a plus. Environmental / Sustainability background also a plus.
  • Proven experience in project management, including planning, execution, and monitoring.
  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, and techniques.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities, with a focus on fostering collaboration and achieving project goals.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Analytical and problem-solving mindset, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in project management software and collaboration tools.
  • Adaptability and resilience to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • A commitment to delivering high-quality results and continuous improvement.
