Senior Consultant – Supply Chain & Supplier Engagement

Role: Senior Consultant – Supply Chain & Supplier Engagement

Location: Remote - USA or Canada based

Practice Area: Supply Chain

Contract: Full-time

Remuneration Range: $80,000 - 100,000 (Please note salary is paid in local currency USD/CAD)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Subject Matter Expertise (SME) – You will serve as a SME in the development and implementation of climate supplier engagement strategies, working alongside clients to evaluate their in-house and supply chain operations, and designing policies, programs, and strategies that align with an array of ESG topics, focusing on GHG reduction target setting and GHG reduction plans. You will advise in carrying out supply chain ESG risk analysis, integrating and developing supplier engagement systems and processes, creating educational materials to support client internal teams and suppliers to build capacity and enablement, recommending and supporting the deployment of supply chain data solutions and technologies, and building and carrying out supplier engagement programs for clients.
  • Project Management– As a Senior Consultant in our Supplier Engagement Service, you will be expected to manage the delivery of moderately-sized or complex client engagements targeted at improving ESG performance and disclosure, specifically in the areas of supply chain and supplier engagement. You will be responsible for these projects being on time, budget, and schedule. Your role will involve managing several projects and dedicated project teams at any one time. You will be expected to perform senior level review of client work products.  
  • Data analytics and visualization: Good knowledge of Power BI to visualize relevant data for strategy and decision-making. Good excel and modeling skills for the creation of forecasting models, identification of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), etc.
  • Client Management– You will lead and grow client relationships, managing client expectations and delivering on their ESG goals and objectives and acting as the primary point of contact. You will be responsible for developing and delivering proposals that demonstrate an understanding of the client’s business and tailored scopes of work to achieve their goals. You will work to develop a trusted advisor relationship with all clients and focus relentlessly on helping them be successful in defining and achieving their sustainability goals.   
  • ESG Performance– You will advise clients and their suppliers on how to prioritize, evaluate and improve their climate impact and Green House Gas (GHGs) emissions and / or Science-Based Targets (SBTs) / Net-Zero performance within their supply chain. This will include desktop research, internal and external stakeholder engagement, and the integration of advanced data analytics.   
  • Business Development – You will be responsible for the development and delivery of proposals for potential clients and projects and represent Anthesis during interviews as the consultancy best positioned to support. You will expand the scope of engagement with existing clients, helping them drive their sustainability agenda. You will support team development through competency building, training, and mentoring.

Summary of Role:

Anthesis’ Supplier Engagement Service Line is looking for a highly motivated Senior Consultant to support our growing work helping clients to deliver our ambitious strategy for the Decisive Decade. Engaging an organization’s supply chain is a challenging but critical area for companies to drive environmental and social transformation and minimize their ESG-related risks. Clients are increasingly seeking our help to develop and deploy effective supplier engagement programs that leverage technology, best practices, and collaborative networks to deliver measurable performance improvement against their public-facing goals.

Our projects and client base are varied, but we are looking for this role to support the following:

  • Sustainable Supply Chains for key clients in the technology space
  • Sustainability focus areas will include greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs), science-based targets (SBTs), and GHG reduction plans in the following sectors: Professional Services, Electrical and Electronic Equipment, Manufacturing and Building
  • Solution implementation and strategy development, including developing data processes
  • Define and deliver business processes to collect and manage other environmental and sustainability-related supply chain data
  • Data analytics – management and visualization with good knowledge of Power BI
  • Model development skills (forecast models, KPIs for strategy and decision-making)
  • Project management
  • Analysis and design of data analytic software for client internal teams and suppliers
  • Design and implement supplier engagement and capacity-building programs
  • Establishing supplier engagement program policies, processes, and strategy.

Key Requirements:

  • At least 4-5 years of industry experience in supplier engagement, energy and greenhouse gas emissions, and science-based targets
  • Strong understanding of Climate/Net Zero-related concepts, and SBTi criteria
  • Strong data visualization skills (Power BI, Excel, modeling)
  • GHG reduction target setting and GHG reduction plan expertise in the following sectors: Professional Services, Electrical and Electronic Equipment, Manufacturing and Building sectors.
  • Proven work experience working in supply chain, sourcing/procurement, or any supplier-facing role
  • Experience in delivering high quality and professional reports, in multiformat and for various audiences.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills, including data collection and management, with advanced Excel skills
  • Experience with analytical software such as Alteryx/Tableau/PowerBI, etc.
  • Experience delivering projects either in house, in the supply chain or in a consultancy or NGO environment.
  • Comfortable and confident liaising with key stakeholders across all levels of a business
  • Ability to troubleshoot and analyze complex problems. Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communications and project management skills
  • Self-organized, self-motivated, detail-oriented, effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to respond positively to pressure and take a flexible approach to a dynamic, fast moving and changing work environment
  • Professional presence with the ability to quickly establish personal credibility and demonstrate expertise
  • Able to work on virtual teams across different time zones
