Senior Sustainability Data Analyst

Role: Senior Sustainability Data Analyst

Location: Flexibly remote from one of our UK hubs (Bristol, Edinburgh, Harrogate, London, Manchester or Oxford)

Contract: Full-time

Remuneration Range: Competitive

Key responsibilities:

  • Performing detailed calculations to identify material flows, packaging, waste and fibre footprints, some LCA and other environmental, social and economic metrics, as required
  • Create dashboards and standardised reporting templates to support clients in automating their data collection and reporting processes
  • Create compelling data visualisation to support clients to understand and communicate their data
  • Undertake responsibility for best practice quality assurance
  • Business development including proposal writing in collaboration with the existing team
  • Harmonise our teams’ approach to data management, providing training programs where required
  • Establishing future proof processes and identifying opportunities to expand our digital offering
  • Undertaking technical research and results distribution
  • Attend client meetings, where necessary, for project delivery and to develop opportunities
  • Manage multiple projects with minimal supervision

Summary of role:

Anthesis’ Production & Consumption practice are looking for a sustainability data analyst to provide the data, calculations, analyses and associated consultancy which underpins our clients’ sustainability activity and ambitions across our Packaging and Supply Chain services.

You will lead and support data analytics and visualisation in the Production and Consumption practice, working directly with both internal and external clients as part of a series of project teams, often as the primary data analyst, responsible for synthesising large and complex data sets relating to packaging, waste, fibres and more.

This is a delivery and project management role engaging directly with the market to support major sustainability project delivery for our clients. It will involve collaborating with global Anthesis sustainability experts, our digital team and with other Technical Consultants not only to deliver great projects but also to support in developing new innovative ways of supporting our clients on their sustainability journeys.

The work will support a mixture of clients, large and small, across a variety of sectors including retail, apparel and FMCG.


Key requirements:

  • 1st class or 2:1 Bachelors/Master’s degree in STEM or digital focussed subjects or 3-5 years’ experience
  • Strong critical thinking, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Strong time management and organisational skills with clarity on need for prioritisation
  • Technology – Excellent analytical skills applying various analytical software. We would expect advanced competency in Microsoft Excel and experience in using other analytics software and visualisation tools will be beneficial:
    • Advanced MS Excel (Power Query, Lookup formulas, IF statements, Pivot tables etc) is required
    • Alteryx, PowerBI or Tableau experience is advantageous, not mandatory
    • SQL
    • Knowledge of Python is desirable, not mandatory
