Senior Electrical Engineer

Role: Senior Electrical Engineer

Location: Flexibly remote from one of our UK hubs (Bristol, Edinburgh, Harrogate, London, Manchester or Oxford)

Contract: Full-time

Remuneration Range: Competitive

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct energy audits and make recommendations for energy-saving improvements in existing buildings.
  • Design electrical systems for buildings, ensuring they are efficient, sustainable, and meet legislative and sustainability standards.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical engineers, sustainability consultants and other key stakeholders, to create holistic building solutions.
  • Assess existing building systems for energy efficiency and propose retrofit solutions to improve sustainability.
  • Integrate zero carbon and green technologies, such as solar PV, Electric Vehicle Charging, LED Lighting and Controls etc., into building designs.
  • Able to undertake or show a willingness to learn to conduct energy simulations and analyses.
  • Produce detailed schematics, drawings, and specifications.
  • Provide technical advice and consultancy on sustainable solutions to internal teams and clients.
  • Oversee and supervise on-site installations and commissioning.
  • Participate in project meetings, ensuring that sustainable and energy efficiency standards are met throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Project management.

Summary of Role:

We are seeking a dynamic and highly motivated Electrical Building Services Engineer to join our rapidly expanding team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical building services and a passion for sustainable engineering.

 

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience in building services electrical design, preferably with a focus on sustainability.
  • Familiarity with industry software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Dialux, or similar.
  • Knowledge of current electrical codes and standards related to building services.
  • Experience integrating renewable energy systems and energy storage solutions in building designs would be advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of energy management, efficiency, and sustainability principles.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated with the latest sustainable technologies and practices.
  • Chartered Engineer or working towards Chartership would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of PSDS and ESOS would be helpful but is not essential.
  • Knowledge of HV and MV Design would be useful but is not essential.
  • Knowledge of BMS Design would be useful but is not essential.
