Monica works with clients to advance sustainability strategies and better partner with stakeholders to create more resilient and inclusive business practices to maximize value for business and society.
Monica has over 15 years of experience as a sustainability practitioner and consultant to Fortune 500 organizations, governments, institutions, and nonprofits. Monica has industry experience in retail, manufacturing, gaming and casino, higher learning with a focus on health care. She leads the NA Health Care Practice leveraging her strengths in strategy and change management.
Before Anthesis, Monica was head of sustainability at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts (BCBSMA) where she and her team led a successful program that included many internal accomplishments, but also influenced the role health insurers could lead on environmental sustainability. In 2020 BCBSMA launched a health app and an account assessment toolkit that elevated environmental sustainability alongside other topics such as smoking cessation and nutrition in assessing and supporting health and wellness. Before BCBSMA Monica led and managed sustainability at MassGeneralBrigham across 16 facilities and 18 million square feet.
Monica serves as a Board Member of Healthy Building Network and is a member of the steering committee for Clean Production Action’s Chemical Footprint project.
Monica has a bachelor’s degree in Medical Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, a master’s in business administration from Simmons College, and has completed executive education in sustainability leadership from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
