Sonia Vaz Martins

Sonia is a chartered engineer with over 15 years’ experience in the design and advisory services within the bioenergy and decarbonisation sectors. She is passionate about energy systems and innovative solutions that accelerate decarbonisation of our cities towards a zero-carbon future. Her ambition is to develop and implement roadmaps to establish a circular economy and to make net zero real.

Sonia’s career has spanned across many areas including anaerobic digestion, biomethane production and injection to grid, green gas compression and refuelling stations, district heating and heat networks, project management and contract administration. More recently, Sonia has been focusing on a number of decarbonisation strategies and the integration renewable energy sources.

Through the years Sonia has developed and delivered design solutions that reflect clients’ briefs and aspirations. The solutions have covered the entire project lifecycle including concept design and master planning, (techno-economic) feasibility and due diligence studies, detailed design, tender document preparation and evaluation and commissioning support.

As a technical lead, Sonia promotes continuous improvement and excellency, sets internal standards, procedures, budgets, supports organisational development, business strategies and market analyses.
