Whitepaper | EU CBAM: The Transition Phase

The Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) is arguably the most powerful climate policy developed by the European Union (EU) to date. CBAM entered the Transitional Period on the 1st of October 2023, and will come into full effect from 1st of January 2026, when importers will have to pay a carbon price on embedded emissions. CBAM aims to ensure products imported into the EU are subject to the same carbon price as products produced within the EU, in order to prevent carbon leakage, and drive industrial decarbonisation and carbon pricing policy globally.

So, how does it work in practice? This whitepaper will guide you through the background and implementation of CBAM and what your organisation needs to do to prepare.
