Stuart McLachlan

Stuart McLachlan, recognised as one of the Top 32 ESG Pioneers in the UK, brings over 30 years of experience in sustainability, including serving as a PLC Director for a FTSE 250 company. In 2013, he founded Anthesis and led its evolution from a start-up into one of the world’s leading organisations focused on driving sustainable performance across every stage of the value chain. Today, Anthesis employs more than 1,400 professionals and partners with many FTSE 100 and Fortune 500 companies.

In 2023, Stuart co-authored The Adventure of Sustainable Performance: Beyond ESG Compliance to Leadership in the New Era, a book that explores how leaders can shape a new era for business and drive performance as the world transitions to net zero. Under his leadership, Anthesis completed two rounds of private equity investment, most recently with Carlyle and Tikehau in August 2023.

In Q4 2025, Stuart transitioned the leadership of Anthesis to Matthew Bell, continuing as a member of the Board of Directors to support the next phase of growth.
