- Dr. Matthew Bell named Group CEO, bringing over 20 years of accomplished industry experience

Anthesis today announced the appointment of Dr. Matthew Bell as Group Chief Executive Officer, effective 1st December, 2025. As part of a planned succession, co-founder Stuart McLachlan will step down as CEO and remain on the Board of Directors, ensuring a smooth transition and to provide ongoing advice and support.
A career-long sustainability professional and published scientist, Matthew brings over two decades of leadership across the private and public sectors. He joins Anthesis from EY, where he served as Global Leader for Climate Change and Sustainability Services, advising multinational corporations and governments on sustainability strategy, decarbonisation, reporting, and long-term value creation. At EY Matthew led a global team of over 4,300 specialists; previously he headed the UK Government’s project office on its major climate and energy policies (2003-2007). He has led high-performing teams globally and regionally at EY, driving innovation and impact across the climate and business transformation agenda. Matthew also serves as Chair of the Board of Directors of the World Green Building Council, the world’s largest network advancing decarbonised, resilient, and regenerative buildings.
Matthew succeeds Stuart McLachlan as Group CEO of Anthesis Group. Since co-founding the Company in 2013, Stuart has overseen more than a decade of rapid growth and transformation, including the acquisition of 24 businesses and expansion to over 1,400 sustainability experts worldwide.
