ESG Materiality, ASRS Readiness and Carbon Account Advisory
Strengthened climate reporting for a major food producer by defining ESG priorities, aligning with AASB S2 standards, and optimising NGER emissions data processes
Situation
Our client is a major Australian food producer, focused on improving its ESG practices and building stronger sustainability foundations across the business.
As part of this journey, the client engaged Anthesis to provide strategic guidance on ESG priorities, climate reporting alignment, and greenhouse gas (GHG) management. The aim was to ensure the company is positioned to meet evolving reporting standards, including AASB S2, and to drive meaningful progress towards decarbonisation and transparency.
Solution
- Firstly, Anthesis undertook an ESG materiality assessment to identify and prioritise the business’s most significant ESG topics, considering both inwards financial impacts and outward impacts on people, communities, and the environment. This helped define where the company should focus its sustainability strategy and reporting efforts.
- Anthesis also conducted a detailed gap analysis against AASB S2 and prepared a tailored roadmap to guide the client towards full alignment with Australia’s forthcoming climate-related financial disclosure requirements. This included practical recommendations, sequencing of actions, and resource considerations.
- Anthesis conducted a GHG inventory of the organisation’s Scope 1 and 2 emissions. To further strengthen climate reporting, Anthesis reviewed the client’s NGER management processes and set up an EERS API-capable reporting system, improving efficiency and compliance with national greenhouse gas reporting.
