Anthesis appoints Patagonia’s Worn Wear architect to lead its Circular Business Models service

July 20, 2022 | News,

Anthesis Group, the world’s largest group of dedicated sustainability professionals, has appointed Nellie Cohen, the architect of Patagonia’s precedent-setting and award-winning circularity program, Worn Wear, as Director of Circular Business Models.

This appointment is further testament to the growing market demand for circularity solutions and Anthesis’ leadership position in developing and delivering strategic initiatives by world renowned circularity experts. Reporting into Anthesis’ North America Solution lead for Sustainable Production and Consumption, Lisa Grice, Nellie will be responsible for expanding and further strengthening Anthesis’ circularity offering, developing strategies that transform client revenue models and operationalise new circular systems. Her leadership will deliver combined systems thinking and strategy with technical solutions and implementation for clients. As Anthesis serves industry-leading clients from Target Corporation to Amazon, Nellie will have the ability to influence change at a global scale via the Circular Business Models offering.

The sustainability leadership that Anthesis brings to a wide variety of sectors and clients will accelerate the world’s transition to a more circular economy. I am proud and excited to be leading this work that importantly enables businesses to reduce their environmental impacts while also meeting their commercial objectives.

Nellie Cohen
Director of Circular Business Models, North America

Nellie brings over 15 years’ sustainability experience and is widely recognised as a leading figure within the circular economy movement. Prior to joining Anthesis, Nellie founded Baleen, a company which consults for businesses including Levi’s, Lululemon, DÔEN, Canada Goose and Guittard on building circular business models, product systems and the related marketing and communications to reduce their environmental footprint, generate revenue and brand loyalty.

Anthesis’ Sustainable Production and Consumption Solution partners with clients and whole supply chains to create products and business models that positively impact global societies and the environment. With a focus on more sustainable outcomes, the team works with clients as diverse as Estee Lauder, MilliporeSigma, and Reckitt Benkiser to change how products are developed, how packaging is conceived, and how consumer needs are met.

Anthesis’ enhanced focus on circular economy builds upon its global ambition to support clients to sustainably eliminate 3Gt (gigatonnes) of CO2e (greenhouse gases) – equivalent to more than half the United States’ annual emissions – by 2030.

Lisa Grice, Executive Director at Anthesis North America, commented, “I am delighted to welcome Nellie to Anthesis. Her internationally recognised expertise in enabling businesses to convert from traditional revenue models to profitable circular business models allows us to offer a valuable transformation prospect to clients. Nellie’s exceptional experience responding to the challenges and opportunities that a circular economy business model presents will be pivotal in supporting clients to navigate the transition to more sustainable modes of production and consumption.”

Chantelle Ludski, North America CEO adds, “We are proud that an internationally recognised innovator such as Nellie has chosen Anthesis as the vehicle through which she will affect change in her field of expertise. In this role, Nellie will provide guidance for leading brands to undertake transformative journeys towards new circular models.”

Anthesis has recently been named Consultancy of the Year at both Edie’s Sustainability Leaders Awards 2022 and the 12th annual BusinessGreen Leaders Awards 2022. Anthesis’ US business has been certified as a Great Place To Work for the second consecutive year.
