Food Waste Capabilities Guide

February 6, 2018 | Guidance,

32% of all food produced in the world is wasted.

According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, 32% of all food produced in the world is wasted – equating to an annual loss of around £17 billion.

This is clearly unsustainable, not productive use of environmental resource and not good for business.

International recognition of the food loss and waste scale is building. For example, the European Union member states have committed to achieving the UN’s 12.3 sustainable development goal challenge, which aims to half per capita global food waste. Other organizations such as the Consumer Goods Forum, US EPA and World Business Council have all adopted similar targets.
