asrs year 2 strengthening climate disclosures and business value-blue - building

Year 2 ASRS reporting for Group 1 entities introduces new requirements and higher expectations for the quality, reliability and usefulness of climate disclosures.

Mandatory Scope 3 reporting is the headline requirement, alongside closer attention to business resilience and more rigorous assurance scrutiny.

This session will examine the practical realities of Year 2 reporting: what changes, where reporting and assurance friction typically appears, and what organisations can do now to strengthen climate disclosures.

It will also look at how the data and insights gathered through reporting can support better business decisions, including strategy, investment, risk management, resilience and climate planning.

We’ll cover:

Key differences between Year 1 and Year 2 expectations
  • Business resilience and emerging expectations: Refreshing resilience assessments while responding to developing regulatory guidance and market expectations.
  • Financial materiality and quantification: Moving beyond narrative disclosures as climate reporting enters assurance. Year-on-year, it will become increasingly difficult to rely on proportionality provisions to avoid the deeper quantification expected by ASIC, auditors, and users of these reports.
  • Scope 3 reporting: Preparing for mandatory Scope 3 disclosures through stronger data, governance and methodology, informed by emerging leading practice.
Improving assurance readiness
  • Assurance readiness: Reducing reporting friction and strengthening collaboration across internal teams and external advisers, enabling smoother processes, less rework and more accurate reporting.
Strategic integration and value creation
  • Unlocking Value: Using climate disclosures to strengthen strategy, inform investment decisions, uncover efficiencies, enhance resilience and risk management, and improve understanding of interconnected climate and nature-related risks.
