Matt Drum is the Managing Director of Anthesis Australia. Before this he founded Ndevr Environmental in 2010 and grew the business from a small consultancy to a market-leading climate change and human rights advisory firm until it was acquired by Anthesis in 2023. With over 16 years in the climate and sustainability space, he is recognised as a true subject matter expert and leader within the industry, having worked on countless environmental and sustainability projects with some of Australia’s most well-known companies. ​

Matt is one of Australia’s most experienced and highly accredited Registered Greenhouse and Energy Auditors (RGEAs) and holds the highest level of greenhouse and energy audit accreditation in Australia, Category 2 RGEA. He is also a Lead Auditor for the Victorian Energy Efficiency Target (VEET) and the NSW Energy Savings Scheme (ESS) and Accounting for Nature Accredited Expert Category 3 Auditor. ​

Prior to Ndevr Environmental, Matt worked as the Assistant Director in the Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Office of the Department of Climate Change and Energy Efficiency (DCCEE) and was instrumental in the development and implementation of the National Greenhouse Emissions Reporting Scheme’s (NGERs) legislative framework. ​

Having featured in media publications from The New York Times, to the Sydney Morning Herald, Australian Financial Review, and The Guardian, Matt has facilitated some of Australia’s largest and most complex industrial emissions reduction projects from business case, to practical completion and beyond. ​

Skillfully leveraging alternate sources of funding including revenue from carbon credits and government programs, Matt has been instrumental in accelerating decarbonisation at industrial scale. ​

Matt has a Bachelor of Commerce (International Business and Management), Diploma of Government (Policy & Government Administration) and a Graduate Diploma of Environment, Resource and Environmental Law.​
