GS Solar India 20MW Project

Generating clean energy and supporting sustainable development in Rajasthan, India
wind project rajasthan

The GS Solar India Project delivers renewable energy while promoting social, economic, and technological development in Rajasthan. By operating a 20MW solar PV farm, the project reduces greenhouse gas emissions, displaces fossil fuel electricity, and contributes to a low-carbon, sustainable energy future for the region.

The initiative addresses India’s high reliance on coal, air pollution challenges, and growing energy demand. It supports local energy security, fosters technological skills, and improves community livelihoods through training and employment. By participating in this Gold Standard-certified project, stakeholders help advance India’s renewable energy transition.

Project details

The solar PV farm is located in Manchitya, Jodhpur district, an area of Rajasthan with high solar potential and low population density. The project contributes to India’s energy independence and supports the national transition toward renewable energy by replacing fossil fuel-based electricity with sustainable solar power.

Using proven solar PV technology, the 20MW farm ensures operational reliability, environmental safety, and replicability for future projects in the region. Over the ten-year crediting period, the project is expected to deliver substantial carbon emission reductions and encourage further adoption of solar energy technologies.

Collaborations

Anthesis supports and finances the project, enabling greenhouse gas reductions alongside social, economic, and technological co-benefits. Gold Standard certification guarantees robust monitoring, reporting, and verification of emissions reductions, while promoting community engagement and sustainable development outcomes.

Quality criteria

All Anthesis-supported carbon removal projects undergo independent verification to confirm permanent carbon storage and measurable environmental benefits. Projects must demonstrate alignment with UN SDGs 12, 13, and 15, promote soil and ecosystem health, and deliver robust climate and nature outcomes.

  • Gold Standard certified, ensuring credible carbon accounting and monitoring
  • Clear additionality through renewable energy generation and displacement of fossil fuels
  • Robust monitoring, reporting, and verification of emissions reductions and co-benefits
  • Tangible social, economic, and technological impacts, including training, employment, and community development
  • Promotion of equal opportunities, gender equality, and local capacity building
  • Alignment with internationally recognised best practices for small-scale solar energy projects

Through rigorous auditing, monitoring, and adherence to international standards, Anthesis ensures all projects provide credible, lasting impact for both climate and local communities.
