Home – Case Studies – Identifying and Developing Impact Finance Strategies for a Leading Global Packaging Company
The situation
Our client, a global bottled water company operating in over 100 countries with more than $4 billion in annual revenue, had set ambitious impact goals across water, packaging, and carbon. However, funding barriers limited their ability to achieve and scale these commitments. The leadership team wanted to understand how impact finance could accelerate progress toward these goals.
Our solution
Anthesis designed and delivered an impact finance 101 workshop to expand the client’s understanding of available financing models, illustrated through case studies and expert perspectives.
Together, we identified three strategic pathways to mobilise impact capital. We then conducted targeted analyses to shape actionable opportunities — benchmarking industry practices in water, sustainable packaging, and logistics; connecting impact outcomes to the client’s ambitions; and building a screening framework to evaluate options.
Impacts
The client gained a clear roadmap of three viable financing approaches:
- Joining an existing impact investment fund
- Developing an industry pivot fund
- Launching their own blended finance vehicle
Anthesis provided detailed assessments of benefits, risks, and alignment with corporate goals, enabling the client to prioritise strategies that strengthen water stewardship, reduce packaging impacts, and advance carbon reduction.
