The EU’s REACH Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 came in to force nearly 20 years ago and has been evolving ever since then. One key principle of REACH is “no data, no market” which places obligations on chemical manufacturers and importers to identify and manage their risks throughout the lifecycle. Those companies manufacturing or importing chemicals at 1 tonne/year or more (on their own, or in mixtures or articles), must submit a Registration dossier to the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) – without this, they may not be able to access the market. To date, nearly 23,000 unique chemicals have been registered with ECHA.

Join Anthesis sustainable chemistry experts for a two-part webinar series on the EU’s REACH Regulation:

Webinar 1: Sustainable Chemistry – REACH “The Registration Process”

Date: Wednesday, 18 June, 2025
Time: 9:00 EDT / 16:00 BST

This webinar provides a practical overview of the steps involved in the Registration process, specifically for existing substances, also known as “Co-registration”. We provide estimates on costs and timelines for each step, highlighting where issues can occur and delays can be anticipated and avoided.

We also explore the various exclusions and exemptions that may be applicable to certain chemicals and that should be assessed before jumping in to a Registration.

Note, the Lead Registration process for new and novel chemicals will be covered in a future webinar, although some of the steps are very similar.

Key takeaways

  • A clear understanding of the practicalities of REACH Registration for existing chemicals
  • Guidance on identifying exemptions from Registration
  • Estimates on costs and timelines to help budget and plan
  • Advice for downstream users who may be reliant of suppliers to register their chemicals

Webinar 2: Sustainable Chemistry – REACH “PPORD Notifications”

Date: Wednesday, 25 June, 2025
Time: 9:00 EDT / 16:00 BST

To promote and enable innovation, REACH also includes provisions for those companies at the R&D stage of their journey. If your activities fall within the definition of product and process orientated research and development (PPORD), you can submit a PPORD Notification to ECHA to be exempt from Registration.

This webinar explains what PPORD means in the context of REACH, which companies may benefit from using this and the process for preparing and submitting a PPORD Notification.

Key takeaways

  • Clarify on the meaning of PPORD and who can benefit from this
  • The limitations of a PPORD Notification versus a Registration
  • In depth look at the information requirements
  • Recommendations for best practice and how to increase the likelihood that your submission will be accepted
