Developing Packaging and Circular Design Guidelines for Purmo Group

The Situation

Purmo Group, a leading provider of sustainable indoor climate comfort solutions, has partnered with Anthesis to accelerate progress toward its circularity and packaging KPIs, unlocking the value of its circularity efforts.

Purmo Group sought support in clearly defining what circularity means for their business, building internal alignment and momentum across teams, and equipping stakeholders with the practical tools needed to integrate circularity into their day-to-day roles.

A central goal of the project was to engage and consult with stakeholders to build consensus and co-create two clear, actionable sets of guidelines—one for packaging and one for product design.

Our Solutions

Anthesis began by conducting stakeholder interviews across a range of functions within Purmo Group to gain a deep understanding of the current engagement with circularity across products and packaging, customer expectations, operational practices, and variations across markets. Using these insights, we developed bespoke packaging and circular design guidelines to support teams in operations, procurement, and product development. These guidelines were grounded in best practice, aligned with regulatory requirements, and tailored to Purmo Group’s specific context. Their development was a cross-functional effort, drawing on expertise from Anthesis’ sustainable products, life cycle assessment, and packaging teams.

Throughout the project, Anthesis worked closely with Purmo Group to ensure alignment and relevance. The project concluded with two collaborative workshops where we presented the guidelines to internal teams, gathered feedback, and supported initial steps toward embedding the guidance across the business.

We’re extremely pleased with our collaboration with Anthesis on the development of our packaging and circular design guidelines. Their expertise has been invaluable, and we look forward to continuing to embed these principles across our business with Anthesis as our trusted partner.
