Home – Case Studies – Enhancing TOAST’s Sustainability Reporting Through Centralised Data Management
TOAST, a fashion and lifestyle brand in the apparel industry, partnered with Anthesis to evolve its Social Conscience sustainability strategy. The brand had already embedded strong sustainability principles across areas such as circularity and responsible materials. However, TOAST saw the need to build on this foundation with a more evidence-based framework to guide future efforts.
A central challenge was the way sustainability data was managed. Metrics captured in the Social Conscience report are tracked through manual processes, creating inefficiencies and limiting TOAST’s ability to generate timely insights and guide strategic action. To strengthen the integrity and accessibility of this information, the organisation sought a digital system that could centralise data, streamline reporting, and support transparent communication.
Anthesis proposed initiating a test of our digital sustainability platform to host TOAST’s Social Conscience data. The goal was to create a centralised, digital platform for improved data management, enabling TOAST to streamline reporting, enhance data quality, and set the foundations for more comprehensive reporting aligned with TOAST’s long-term ambitions.
Anthesis collaborated closely with TOAST to design a tailored approach to managing its sustainability data. We began by mapping all existing sustainability data using a tailored template, identifying each unique data point to be hosted. This formed the basis of a clear, intuitive data architecture.
Where relevant, metrics were mapped to leading reporting frameworks – SASB, GRI, and ESRS, enabling TOAST to broaden its analytical capabilities and prepare for potential future reporting requirements.
In partnership with TOAST, we refined the data structure to ensure full alignment to the brand’s strategic priorities, reporting cadence, and internal analytics needs. Once validated, our technical specialists configured and deployed TOAST’s custom Anthesis Intelligence instance and populated it with the available data.
The project concluded with an onboarding session, equipping TOAST’s team to manage, report, and analyse sustainability data independently. The key result was a fully configured instance tailored to TOAST’s sustainability priorities, and ready to support both internal analytics and external reporting.

By transitioning to a data collection platform, TOAST can replace manual sustainability data collection with a centralised, digital platform tailored to its Social Conscience programme. This shift could significantly reduce time spent on data handling, minimise errors, and improve the reliability of sustainability reporting. The TOAST sustainability team can rapidly share progress updates and metrics internally. There is also scope to share the analytics externally.
The project also laid the groundwork for future expansion. TOAST could scale its reporting to include broader frameworks like GRI and integrate additional metrics across its value chain.
With enhanced analytics and real-time reporting capabilities, TOAST is better positioned to track progress, inform decision-making, and demonstrate its commitment to thoughtful, transparent sustainability leadership in the apparel industry.
