The European Commission has spent the last three years revising the Packaging and Packaging Waste Directive (PPWD) as part of the Circular Economy Action Plan. In February 2025, the final text of the new Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) was published in the EU Journal, triggering an 18-month transition period ahead of its implementation on 12th August 2026.
