Environmental Labelling: Positioning PEF in the European and French Regulatory Context

Wednesday, 18 September 9.30 CET

(FRENCH WEBINAR)

Does your company market products subject to environmental labelling? Would you like to communicate the sustainability of your products?

The European Commission’s Product Environmental Footprint (PEF) method provides a methodological framework for measuring the environmental performance of products.

Based on established practices and international standards such as ISO 14000/44, it provides meticulous, harmonised guidelines for modelling, calculating and declaring the life-cycle environmental impacts of goods, services and organisations. This reliable framework enables companies to produce credible environmental information to support sustainability decision-making.

The Product Environmental Footprint Categories (PEFCR) rules are developed to ensure reproducible, comparable and verifiable results for a specific product group or sector.

An accelerating regulatory environment:

  • In France, a number of experiments are underway on environmental product labelling, and regulations for the food and textile sectors are expected to be rolled out by the end of 2024.
  • At European level, the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) is set to revolutionise the way products are designed, manufactured and marketed in the EU. This comprehensive regulation goes beyond energy efficiency to encompass a wider range of environmental considerations throughout a product’s life cycle, including the introduction of the digital product passport.

It is therefore essential to take advantage of the tools and methodologies available to implement environmental product labelling in compliance with these new regulations.

Take part in our webinar to better understand :

  • What is the link between the PEF, the method recommended by the EU, and the French context of environmental labelling?
  • What is the role of the PEFCR?
  • What are the major forthcoming regulatory changes concerning environmental product labelling?
