Nature is rapidly moving up the corporate agenda, standing alongside climate as a critical priority for businesses. The pressures of biodiversity loss, water scarcity, and ecosystem decline are increasingly being recognised as direct business risks – and as drivers of opportunity for organisations that act early.

To help businesses build the knowledge and confidence needed to respond, Anthesis – in partnership with the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) – has launched a new training programme: Introduction to Nature for Business.

As a proud partner of WBCSD, the course is available now through both the Anthesis Activator Academy and the WBCSD Academy. The course provides a practical entry point for organisations ready to understand and act on nature-related risks and opportunities.

Building knowledge and action

Designed for decision-makers and stakeholders beyond sustainability specialists, the course equips participants with the tools to:

  • Recognise why nature must be integrated into day-to-day business decision-making
  • Link nature-positive actions – such as water efficiency, conservation, and ecosystem restoration – with business resilience, efficiency, and long-term growth
  • Navigate leading frameworks, including TNFD and SBTN, as a foundation for strategy and reporting
  • Outline a high-level action plan to embed nature into operations

No prior knowledge is required, making this an accessible starting point for senior leaders, functional teams, and boards. For nature and sustainability professionals, it also provides a clear “Nature 101” framework to support informed, aligned discussions across the business.

Nature has moved from the sidelines to being a strategic management issue and financial concern. Managing nature-related risks and opportunities is vital for business resilience, competitiveness and value creation. We need to act on nature now – because the physical risks are no longer distant, they’re already here. By equipping organisations with a baseline understanding, this course enables more meaningful conversations and actions that will drive progress towards a nature-positive and climate-resilient future.

Arjen Struijk – Global Executive Director, Climate and Nature at Anthesis

Businesses cannot achieve climate goals without addressing nature. This course is an important step in supporting companies of all sectors to recognise their dependencies and impacts on nature, and to start building the knowledge and capacity needed to act. By making nature a boardroom conversation, we can accelerate collective progress towards a nature-positive, climate-safe future that creates long-term value.

A timely launch

The launch of this course comes at a pivotal moment, as global frameworks such as TNFD and SBTN mature, and regulatory requirements on nature-related disclosure expand under GRI and CSRD. Businesses that act now will be better placed to anticipate risks, seize opportunities, and strengthen competitiveness in a changing world.
