Local Authority Webinar Series | Using Technology to Drive Climate Action Planning
With calls for a green recovery gaining momentum, the role of councils and local authorities in enabling climate action at a local level has never been more relevant. New research shows that nearly three-quarters of local authorities have formally declared a climate emergency, and more than half have set a goal to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2030 or sooner. To fulfil these commitments, authorities are looking to build plans that enable them to both prioritise low carbon actions and foresee the potential impact of these initiatives.
Technology is playing an increasing role at every stage of the journey, enabling councils to gain better insights, to communicate and engage with other stakeholders, and to implement and track initiatives in the local area.
Co-hosted with Microsoft, this webinar will explore ways of driving the green recovery through technology such as data, artificial intelligence and the internet of things. We will also hear from Mark Atherton from the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) on how GMCA has leveraged technology in their net-zero ambitions.
