Anthesis Merges With Sustainability Advisory Firm Ndevr Environmental

Anthesis, the largest group of dedicated sustainability professionals globally, has announced its merger with Ndevr Environmental, one of Australia’s leading advisory firms focused on accelerating the global transition to a sustainable, Net Zero future. Details of the transaction are not being disclosed.

Expanding Anthesis’ presence in Asia Pacific and establishing it in Australia, Ndevr Environmental supports some of Australia’s largest brands, such as Toyota, Viva Energy, Orica, BHP, Intrepid Travel and Rio Tinto, on the most significant climate change and societal issues. Led by co-founder and Managing Director Matt Drum and his leadership team since 2010, Ndevr Environmental enables organisations to transition to a decarbonised future, identify and address human rights issues, embrace responsible investments and ESG frameworks, and formulate robust sustainability strategies with accurate reporting to address the complex regulatory landscape.

“Through governmental commitment and stakeholder pressures, we see regulatory and voluntary drivers laying strong foundations for growth in sustainability and ESG solutions. Matt and the Ndevr Environmental team are leading the way in providing the breadth of capabilities needed to succeed in this decarbonisation and sustainability transition. We have been impressed with the impact they are achieving for their clients in Australia and we are excited that both Anthesis and Ndevr Environmental share the same mission. I am delighted to welcome the team to Anthesis.”

Stuart McLachlan
CEO of Anthesis

Aligned with Anthesis on its B Corp certification and committing to a Net Zero Science-Based Target, the firm has grown to 40+ purpose-led experts with offices in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, and Singapore. As part of Climate Active, a partnership between the Australian government and businesses, Ndevr Environmental has been certified carbon neutral since 2017.

Matt Drum, Managing Director, Ndevr Environmental, said, Australia has rapidly shifted from an economy where our biggest emitters simply had to account for their emissions, to a place where aggressive decarbonisation is mandated under the Safeguard Mechanism reforms. To amplify our impact and meet the needs of business, we have merged with Anthesis, one of the world’s leading climate change and sustainability-focused advisory firms. Anthesis is a natural partner for Ndver Environmental, aligning on B Corp, impact as a measurement of climate action and a strong cultural fit. I am proud of what we have grown Ndevr Environmental to become and the amplified ambitions we can now set, as part of Anthesis, to guide more clients through the transition.

Last month global Investment firm Carlyle agreed to acquire a majority stake in Anthesis. Carlyle will support Anthesis to build upon its industry-leading position in end-to-end sustainability solutions through international expansion, broadening the company’s service offering and continuing its successful track record of M&A. Anthesis has completed 19 acquisitions since 2013, growing to over 1,250 specialists across 44 offices in 23 countries.
