The situation

Cariflex is a global leader in high-performance synthetic latex used in medical and other high-value markets. Following the opening of a second production facility, the company wanted to better understand the environmental footprint of its operations across both sites.

To gain these insights, Cariflex asked Anthesis to conduct a screening Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of the production processes at both locations.

Our solutions

Anthesis used a combination of primary and secondary data to develop detailed inventories for each site and analysed the production processes from cradle-to-gate.

The study quantified key environmental impact categories, including global warming, acidification, eutrophication, ozone depletion, photochemical ozone formation, and water consumption.

The LCA results provided a transparent comparison between both sites and formed the basis for refining sustainability strategies.
