Nearly every month there is a new study proving that sustainability creates business value. Yet the money hasn’t followed: fewer than one in four senior management teams put significant resources behind sustainability priorities.
Most companies have already funded the easy wins, such as efficiency savings, compliance and a few visible commitments. The next wave of value is bigger but harder to reach.
Anthesis research with more than 2,000 sustainability and business leaders shows why. Sustainability cases are held to a higher standard than other investments, and strong opportunities stall for lack of a sponsor, a process or a precedent. Getting them funded means framing them as a business opportunity, not a sustainability initiative. The question is no longer “what’s our sustainability strategy?” but “how does sustainability make our business strategy stronger?”
Drawing on new research and decades of expertise, April LaCroix, Global Head of Client Strategy, is joined by Christina Beckman, ESG Director at Culligan, to look at why sustainability as usual is no longer working, how to identify the next wave of value, and what it takes to build a business case your organisation will back.
What we’ll cover:
- Why sustainability business cases stall. What’s really stopping them, and why they’re held to a higher standard than other investments.
- The Actionable Edge. Where to look for the sustainability opportunities big enough to matter and grounded enough to fund, and why most companies have yet to spot them.
- ROI² Methodology: How to shape sustainable business strategies that the business can get behind and successfully compete for investment.
